Eva Longoria Parker filed for divorce from her husband, Tony Parker. The news of the divorce was released in the early hours of Wednesday morning, November 17, 2010. Eva Longoria's divorce papers filed in a family court cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split, but sources say that her decision was based upon alleged infidelity by her husband of three years.
Eva Longoria reportedly plans to remove the designation "Parker" from her legal name upon finalization of her high asset divorce. The court documents request that she be once again formally known as Eva Jacqueline Longoria, the name by which she was known prior to the marriage.
Although Longoria has denounced the Parker name, she had not planned on going through a second divorce. "Eva truly thought she was going to grow old with Tony and have children with him," a friend reportedly told media sources. According to an Us Weekly report, Longoria was surprised when she found out that her husband had been sending hundreds of personal text messages to a female friend each month for about a year.
Longoria became exceptionally well known through her role as Gabriel Solis in the popular ABC show Desperate Housewives. Her husband is known for his athletic talent as a point guard for the San Antonio Spurs.
Although both Longoria and Parker have amassed an extreme amount of wealth, they reportedly sign a prenuptial agreement prior to their marriage on July 7, 2007. The couple had not had any children before or during their marriage and so child custody and support will not be an issue.
