With years of industry experience to his credit, Mr. Abbott has worked as owner and managing partner at the Law Offices of Abbott & Abbott, P.C., since 2006. At his firm, he specializes in family law, domestic litigation, and divorce laws in matters such as division of property, child custody and support, alimony, adoption, pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements, domestic violence, and mediation. Prior to this position, he was the former adjunct instructor with the Advanced Family Law Course for Paralegals at Kennesaw State University. Additionally, Mr. Abbott maintained affiliation with Cobb County Bar Association, Cherokee County Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Abbott pursued an education at the University of Southern Maine, earning a Bachelor of Arts in criminology in 1995. He continued his academic efforts with a Master of Science in alternative dispute resolution from Nova Southeastern University in 1998. He concluded his studies at the Oklahoma City University School of Law, graduating with a Doctor of Jurisprudence, cum laude, in 2001. Following these accomplishments, Mr. Abbott became admitted to practice by the State Bar of Georgia in 2001.
In light of his exceptional undertakings, Mr. Abbott has accrued several accolades and honors throughout his impressive career. In 2017, he was honored among the Ten Best Attorneys in Family Law by the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys. He has been recognized as an AV-rated Preeminent Attorney with Martindale-Hubbell in 2013, 2014, and 2016. Previously, Mr. Abbott was honored as an Elite American Lawyer by Worldwide Branding in 2015, as well as one of Georgia’s Top Attorneys in Family Law by Georgia Trend Magazine in 2011.
Originally intending to become a marine biologist, Mr. Abbott was inspired to enter his field by a law and economics class in high school that permanently and tenaciously altered his perspective. With an aptitude for communicating with others and problem solving, he enjoys fighting for underdogs, leveling the legal playing field, and protecting those facing great odds and challenges. Looking toward the future, Mr. Abbott hopes to continue growing his firm and aggressively representing clients with issues or disputes in family law.
